Trillium Health Partners Foundation’s Hazel McCallion Walk for Health returns to Mississauga on June 7 with waterfront routes, family-friendly activities and a shared goal of supporting the future of local health care. By Trillium Health Partners Foundation

There’s no shortage of ways to spend a Sunday in June with your kids in the GTA, rain or shine. But we’ve got a suggestion that combines fresh air, waterfront views, inflatable bouncers and the opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting difference that your kids are likely to remember.

Trillium Health Partners Foundation’s annual Hazel McCallion Walk for Health returns to Port Credit Memorial Park on June 7 for its fifth anniversary. This popular event has become a feel-good tradition for families, bringing together thousands of participants for a day of movement, entertainment and raising funds to support health care across the region.

There is so much to love about this event where everyone is welcome. To give you a snapshot of what to expect, we’ve narrowed it down to eight reasons why you should come out this year.

1. You Can Pick Your Distance

The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health begins and ends at Mississauga’s Port Credit Memorial Park. From there, you can choose between a leisurely two-kilometre stroll that’s perfect for families with young children and a scenic five-kilometre route along the waterfront trail. Whether you’re pushing a stroller, walking hand-in-hand with a toddler or keeping pace with older kids, there will be a course that works for your crew.

2. You Get to Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities in a Scenic Location

Participants are invited to take part in the opening ceremony and a guided warm-up with RBC Olympians before setting off to the sounds of Canada's oldest and largest youth marching band—the world-renowned Burlington Teen Tour Marching Band. After the walk, attendees can enjoy the event’s complimentary festival, which includes:

  • Delicious lunch options from several vendors
  • Activities for all ages, like inflatable bouncers, face painting, a colouring contest, music and many more fifth anniversary surprises

3. Support Your Local Hospital

For families, having world-class health care close to home matters enormously. That’s exactly what this walk helps support, with proceeds benefiting several major health care projects across the region, including:

  • The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, which will soon be Canada’s largest hospital
  • The Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, which is Ontario’s first hospital dedicated to women’s and children’s health
  • The redevelopment of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre

Trillium Health Partners is one of Canada’s largest hospital systems, serving 2.2 million people across Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre. With demand for care slated to grow faster here than at any other hospital system in Ontario over the next 15 years, expanding capacity now is critical for the future of health care in the region.

Named in honour of beloved long-time Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion, who passed away in 2023, the walk has raised more than $1.8 million since its launch in 2021. In 2025 alone, the event raised more than $440,000 and brought together 2,100+ participants, including community members, sponsors, volunteers and health care workers.

4. Celebrate Its Fifth Anniversary

“This fifth anniversary is a powerful milestone for The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health,” says Caroline Riseboro, president and CEO of Trillium Health Partners Foundation. “Hazel McCallion was proud to support Trillium Health Partners through this walk, and we continue this annual tradition to honour her enduring legacy. Every step taken on June 7 represents hope for patients, families and our entire community. By coming together, participants are helping build a new kind of health care for all that will serve generations to come.”
