The difference between a brownie and a blondie? Blondies rely on a heavier splash of vanilla, forgoing the cocoa powder outright. However, both are delicious, chewy, easy and definitely a good use of your time. This recipe sees blondies studded with chocolate chips, which elevates them to very tasty levels. You should definitely make them.
Ingredients
1/2 cup (125 mL) butter, melted
1 cup (250 mL) packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla
1 cup (250 ml) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp (2 m) baking soda
1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
1/2–1 cup (125–250 ml) chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Stir together the butter and brown sugar in a medium bowl, then add the egg and vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and stir until almost combined; add the chocolate and stir just until blended.
Spread into an 8×8-inch pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and set. Cut into squares and enjoy as-is or with a scoop of ice cream.
