ParentsCanada is proud to be a founding partner of Healthy Me Week, which celebrates its second year June 2-8. To launch the event, participating media gathered at the Oakville YMCA on May 29 and taught some local students the Healthy Me Week mantra: Get up, Fuel up and Own up.

At the “Get Up” station, kids played some ball with Brampton’s own Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tristan was great with the kids, all about age 10, and noted he was only a few years older than them, even though he towered over them!

At our “Fuel Up” station, ParentsCanada teamed up with our friends from Kids’ CBC and showed the kids two awesome and healthy snacks. Popular host Patty Sullivan maybe even had more star power than Tristan, with tons of kids keen to say hi and get a pic. Thanks to our food editor Julie Van Rosendaal for providing delicious recipes. The No-heat chewy granola balls were a hit! For our recipe, click here.

Finally, kids took their Healthy Me Week pledge at the “Own Up” station where they made a commitment to try to live healthier.

Thanks to Concerned Children’s Advertisers for organizing such an awesome kick-off! Be sure to take your own HMW pledge on our site and be entered to win an awesome prize pack that will help you get active with your kids!
