DIY Granola Trail Mix
- Makes: 3 ½ cups granola

Ingredients For the Granola
- 2 cups (500 mL) large flake oats
- ½ cup (125 mL) shredded unsweetened coconut
- ½ cup (125 mL) sunflower seeds
- ½ tsp (2.5 mL) cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) maple syrup or honey
- ¼ cup + 2 tbsp (90 mL) sunflower butter or nut butter
- 1 egg white, whisked until foamy
Method For the Granola
- Preheat oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
- In a medium sized bowl, combine oats, coconut, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, and salt, mix together.
- Next add in maple syrup or honey, sunflower butter and mix until combined. Then stir in the whisked egg white and mix again.
- Spread the granola onto the prepared baking sheet and place into the oven and bake for 15 mins, mix granola around and bake for another 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Ingredients For the Trail Mix
- 1 ½ cup (375 mL) granola
- ½ cup (125 mL) sunflower seeds
- 1 cup (250 mL) pretzels
- 1 cup (250 mL) mini marshmallows
- ½ cup (125 mL) m&ms, chocolate chips or smarties
Method For the Trail Mix
- Combine all ingredients and mix.
- Place into airtight container and enjoy within 5 days.
