Netflix has been killing it with original content lately (raise your hand if you binge Love is Blind after the kids are tucked in), but this new show made us ~so~ excited.
The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, which premiered on February 17, is perfect for tweens. Appropriate for the 12-plus crowd (our editor-in-chief and her eight-year-old watched together and loved it!), according to Common Sense Media, the eight-episode comedy follows 15-year-old Ashley Garcia, who happens to be a teenage rocket scientist and robotics engineer with two PHDs. Totally cool, right? She's recently moved across the country to live with her uncle and work for NASA building robots. All while trying to maintain a normal teenage life with crushes, first kisses and high school drama.
Why do we love it?
Well, women and STEM, obviously. But also because this show has the kind of representation that we should all be seeing more of. It's smart, funny and totally inspiration. Way to go, Netflix.
