Breakfast Foods to Make Ahead
Have these on-hand for a quick and healthy morning option



1 package cookie mix
1/4 cup applesauce
1/3 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Combine cookie mix, applesauce, raisins,
nuts and cinnamon. Dollop onto greased
pan. Bake at 350º for 22 to 25 minutes.




1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp almond extract
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups frozen cranberries
1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds (optional)
Beat sugar and eggs in large bowl until slightly
thickened. Add melted butter and almond extract
and beat to mix, then add flour and stir until well blended. Stir in cranberries  and nuts.
Pour batter into greased 9” pan. Bake about 1 hour. Cool and cut into squares.




1 1/2 cups dried figs
1 cup water
2 tbsps honey or molasses
4 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
3 cups brown sugar
4 1/2 cups oats (reserve 2 tbsp)
1/2 cup butter
8 oz. favourite jam
Combine figs, water and honey in a saucepan
and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and
simmer 20 minutes or until softened.
Combine flour, baking powder, brown sugar,
butter and oats (not jam) in food processor and mix.
Add fig mixture and process until smooth.
Preheat oven to 250ºF. Press half of mixture into
greased 9” pan. Spread jam in middle keeping
jam from very edges. Pack on rest of batter to
form top layer. Form top layer with remaining
mixture. Bake 1 hour. Cool and cut into bars.
Roll in reserved oats.
