Helpful Internet Websites

Most Canadians regularly use the Internet for information on topics that affect their lives. We've compiled a directory of some excellent Canadian Websites that contain useful information for parents, including information about pregnancy.

www.parentscanada.com
The Website of the publishers of this magazine. It contains information on topics covered in our magazines, as well as interactive features such as the baby name finder, and ParentTalk, where you can e-chat with other parents.

www.hc-sc.gc.ca
The Website of the federal government department, Health Canada. It contains a large volume of information about parenting and children's health, including information on pregnancy. Click on the A-Z index, then click on 'P' for parenting.

www.caringforkids.cps.ca
Caring for Kids is the Canadian Pediatric Society's Website for parents. There is a section specifically about pregnancy and babies.

www.motherisk.org
Motherisk is an organization at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. It provides information and guidance to pregnant or lactating women and their health care providers about the risks to the fetus associated with drug, chemical, infection, disease and radiation exposure(s) during pregnancy. You'll find information on nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (morning sickness), drugs in pregnancy, alcohol, nicotine, and substance use, folic acid, breastfeeding and drugs, HIV and HIV treatment and more.

Invest In Kids is a national not-for-profit organization which helps families make the most of their children's first five years. The site includes information about children's ages and stages and children's development.

Canadian Health Network is a national non-profit, bilingual Web-based health information service.

www.dietitians.ca
The Dietitians of Canada Website includes plenty of information on nutrition, a healthy body quiz, help in finding a dietitian and more. Click on 'Eat Well, Live Well,' then type in 'pregnancy' under the search feature. EX
